Set in the modern era of the 2000's Calypso City was built in the midst of New York City and has become the refuge and prison of creatures that have seemingly popped out of nowhere through green portals throughout the world. What first started as cracks in pavement and alley street walls that went unnoticed with it's embers of green became something monstrous as the air and weather shifted; creating portals from our world into the worlds on the other side. From such portals came monsters and creatures of myth from book and history. Some have always been in our world but never have the gates fully opened to allow them through. The world is thrown into chaos as monsters are coming alive and people go missing; or even worse dead. Organizations have begun to form in hopes of taking a stand. From the government to freelance monster hunters to the beasts themselves that seek equality for them in this world. No one is safe and you never quite know who to trust.
In the current years some creatures and species have made themselves public while others have hidden themselves with magic or artifacts that make them appear human to blend in while attempting to live their lives unnoticed. Some live in apartments next to you and others may work at the cafe down the road you love to go to every morning for a good old cup of coffee. For all your knowledge your best friend or your lover could be inhuman and the people you once knew could be shone in a new light. Who can you trust if not the government? But be careful, not everyone who's supposedly on your side means you well. Will you turn a blind eye or will you join the fray?
What we have to offer on our site!
Calypso City is a sandbox creation that encouraged creativity and open minded role play. It's a great place for novice and intermediate role players who like the world of supernatural and fantasy. We offer so many good things for our site. We are also pretty new still; only a few months old at this point and we would love for you to join us! We as a community stand for equality and creativity with both an IC and OOC support system that hope to make you feel part of the family! Whether you are new to this sort of roleplay or have just hopped over from a warrior cat scene we hope our site will make you feel like part of our family with an open mind from each of our players! There is no judgement on Calypso City and everyone can be themselves as long as we all respect each other! Will you come join us?
- We offer open creativity with a species list to help stir up some ideas if you don't have any of your own! (but by no mean do you have to make a character based off of whatever is on the list; it's solely there for creative inspiration). You can make anything really from the dark horror types to historical gods and deities; wherever your interests lies!
- We offer a safe place for people of the LGBTQ+ community as well as anyone who has any disabilities. This means not only can you make a character in either of those types but if you are part of said communities then your welcomed with open arms and full support!
- We are open for all levels of writing styles with a 150 word count minimum. We understand that some may enjoy writing long chapters while others a short reply; don't ever feel pressured to match up to your writing partner's speed or style. As long as you are enjoying your thread and experience we don't care if you match our length of writing!
- We have a list of characters for the site wide plot that are important to the site for adoption if you're interested in that sort of thing with some really great face claims and a chance to be part of the organizations!
- We have a no limit creation rule that allows you to create as many characters as you can handle; of course this also means that you'll need to make a new IC account for every new character you create to keep track of them all!
- We offer side stuff such as social medias for the characters like text messages, facebook, and instagram stuff as well as home registry that allows you to get your very own sub-board in the designated living areas of Calypso City.
- Liquid time is a thing! This means that we can backtrack through threads from the current day if needed and wanted to play out the characters a little more then what you had time for IC. This also means if there is a certain part of your character's history that you'd like to play out before the current date in time with a role play partner liquid time gives you that chance!
- We also have staff positions open for those who have the time to help out on site! If our site is somewhere you'd like to call home and would like to offer your efforts and experience with site building, graphics, or otherwise supervision when admins are not on then we'd love to talk with you!
- Open and friendly world and staff. Our goal is to make you feel comfortable, part of the community, and have a fun time role playing with each other! We understand that life can get in the way of things and there is no pressure to role play. There are no activity checks for this very reason. Roleplay should be something fun to be creative with and meet new and like minded people like yourself instead of a chore or an essay to do on here so we understand absences; we are pretty chill! When we aren't writing up replies for each other we enjoy having a good chat in our discord channel!
